Ethel Leta (Blunt) Luck – August 18, 1893 – July 14, 1971

MRS. ETHEL LUCK DIES AT 77

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church in Nashua at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, July 17, for a longtime Nashua resident, Mrs. Ethel Luck. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating at services and Chenoweth and Son in charge of arrangement.
Music was by Janice Garbes, soloist, and Nelda Shepard, organist. Flowers were tended to by Hilda Johnson and Margery Firman. Casket bearers were Bruce Firman, Robert Demro, Mark Smith, Henry Dana, Darrell Weigand and Wendell Miller.

Ethel Leta Blunt was born in Charles City August 18, 1893, the daughter of William and Charity Johnson Blunt. She was married to Greenbery Bright Luck of New Hartford May 2, 1911 in Waterloo. To this marriage were born 12 children, one daughter, Keitha Irene, dying in infancy. A second daughter, Edna (Mrs. Glenn Strauser) died two years ago this month.

The Lucks had lived in the Nashua community since the mid-1930’s, prior to which they had lived in Waverly and New Hartford for about a dozen years each.

In failing health for some time, Mrs. Luck was being cared for at the 11th Street Chautauqua Home in Charles city at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, January 26, 1971, and by two daughters, her parents, five sisters and five brothers, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.

Surviving are four sons; Ralph of Plainfield, John of Cedar Falls, Clarence of Greene and Tracy of Menlo Park, California; and six daughters, Mable, Mrs. Robert Cagley of Clarksville; Frances, Mrs. Larry Strauser of Nashua; Naomi, Mrs. James Barna of Waterloo; Ethel Mae, Mrs. Harold Milligan of Waterloo; Charity, Mrs. Arnold Gunderson of Oelwein; and Donna, Mrs. Robert Westervelt of Nashua. There are also 33 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
