Greenberry Bright “Slim” Luck – July 6, 1888 – January 26, 1971

G. B. LUCK DIES AT AGE OF 82

Funeral services are pending at the Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua for G. B. (Slim) Luck, 82, retired Nashua police officer and former farmer in the area, who died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at the Chautauque Guest Home in Charles City. He suffered a stroke there about 5 p.m. Monday.

Lean and lanky, Slim Luck made a good police officer in the approximately 15 years he spent on the job. He made friends with young and old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the United Methodist church in Nashua. The Rev. Robert Lemmermann, pastor of the UMC, and the Rev. Andy Hagen of the Nashua Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Greenberry Bright Luck was born in New Hartford July 6, 1888, the son of John and Sophie (nee LeBahn) Luck. He was married to Ethel Blunt of Charles City at Waterloo May 2, 1911. They lived at New Hartford until moving to the Waverly area 48 years ago, and which has since been their home.

He is survived by his wife and 10 children, these including four sons and six daughters. He also is survived by 33 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Garner and Mrs. John DeBuhr, both of New Hartford and a brother, Fred, also of New Hartford.

He was preceded by his parents, four brothers, two daughters and five grandchildren.

Surviving sons are Ralph of Plainfield; John of Cedar Falls; Tracy of Menlo Park, California; and Clarence of Greene.

The daughters surviving are Mable, Mrs. Robert Cagley of Clarksville; Frances, Mrs. Larry Strauser of Nashua; Naomi, Mrs. James Barna of Waterloo; Ethel Mae, Mrs. Harold Milligan of Waterloo; Charity, Mrs. Arnold Gunderson of Oelwein; and Donna, Mrs. Robert Westervelt of Nashua.
