Edna Corine Anderson was born August 18, 1924, in Jacksonville Township in rural Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Alice (Vigdal) Knutson. Edna grew up on her parents farm near Jerico and lost her mother in a train accident at the young age of 17. Edna worked for surrounding farm families and in New Hampton doing cooking, making bread, taking care of children, cleaning and also did farm work including milking cows. She attended the local one room school houses in the Jerico, Saude and Lawler areas.

On May 12, 1943, at the Saude Lutheran Church Parsonage, she married Virgil James Anderson. Over the the years Edna worked at the New Hampton Motel, Collins Radio, New Hampton Chicken Hatchery, did interior painting and hung wallpaper for many years and retired from The Kitchens of Sara Lee. Virgil died on July 10, 1979.

Edna really enjoyed her 89th birthday with a card shower and a small party this past Saturday at Linn Haven Rehabilitation with about 20 in attendance. She really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Edna also loved to bake, crochet, embroidery, garage sales, playing euchre, bingo and word search games. But her one true love was dancing. If there was a dance in the area she was off in her car alone and would dance with whoever she could find at the dance once she arrived. She often said that when her time came she would be happy if she were out dancing on the dance floor.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Doris (Larry) Schmidt of New Hampton, two sons, Larry of Altoona, Wayne and his partner Walter Rodriguez of Vallejo, CA; a daughter-in-law, Carol Anderson of New Hampton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Laurie Bublitz of Grafton; a brother-in-law, Marvin Njus of New Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Helen Benedict and Marian Knutson both of New Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil in 1979; a son, Jerry in 1996; her brothers, Karsten Knutson in 1973, Orvin Knutson in 1981 and Juel Knutson in 2011.
