NEW HAMPTON - LeRoy Alfred Gebel, 80, of New Hampton, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at New Hampton Care Center.

He was born July 5, 1928, in North Washington, son of Frank and Helen Schwickerath Gebel. On Sept. 5, 1950, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, he married Mary Agnes Blong.

Mr. Gebel farmed for 42 years between New Hampton and Lawler, retiring to New Hampton in 2000. While farming he had several other jobs including working for the Farmers Co-op and Sara Lee.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Steve of Ionia, Jim (Eileen) of New Hampton, Gerard (Mary) of Waterloo and Larry of Minneapolis; two daughters, Pam (Gary) Gilbert of Mason City and Paulette Scheler of Hills; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Rita), Francis (Darlene) and Joe (Diana), all of Lawler; and six sisters, Marilyn (James) Leibold and Lucille (Francis) Reicks, both of Lawler, Leona Kriener of Cresco, Doris Balik of Protivin, Jean Hageman of Decorah and Loretta (Tuffy Blue) Kleve of Waucoma.

Preceded in death by a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Center, New Hampton, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
