Obituary:

John Frederick Cagley son of George M. and Amelia Petznick Cagley was born near Chickasaw October 21, 1893, and died April 10, 1970, in the Floyd county hospital of a heart condition, at the age of 76.

He attended grade school in Chickasaw and graduated from the Ionia high school in 19111. He was baptized and united with the Chickasaw Baptist church in 1910, where he remained an active member until the church was discontinued.

He was a veteran of World War I, joining in 1918 and serving in France until the Armistice was signed.

He was married to Verna Fisher September 14, 1921. To this union were born four children, two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Sands of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Harold (Selma) Bell of Coos Bay, Oregon, and two sons, Louis of Coos Bay and Lyle of Portland.

He had farmed near Chickasaw until 1942, when he moved to Nashua and was employed by the Nashua Creamery and the Cheese Factory in Plainfield. After his retirement, he busied himself with his hobby of gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Verna; the four children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Goldie Cagley and Mrs. Maude Brown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
