Mary Elizabeth (Hoon) Tracy -- January 20, 1920 – July 19, 2009

Mary Elizabeth Tracy age 79 of Nahsua, died Sunday evening July 19, 2009 at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 23, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua with Dave Blum, Andy Blum, Dan Schmidt, Garrett Schmidt, John Schacht, Kevin Tracy and Neal Tracy as casketbearers.

Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Mary Elizabeth Tracy was born January 20, 1920, in Spencer, Iowa the daughter of Clarence A. and Marion (McDowell) Hoon. She was a 1947 graduate of the Nashua High School and also attended Cornell College. Mary attended the former, Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and received her teaching certificate.

On December 26, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua she was united in marriage to Duane Tracy. To the union two sons and four daughters were born.

Mary was an active member at church and had been choir director, chair of Staff Pastor Parish Relation Committee and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of P.E.O. Chapter E N, Order of the Eastern Star and the Chickasaw County Historical Society.

Mary enjoyed time spent in her flower garden but especially time she spent with family.

She is survived by her husband Duane; two sons, Kevin Tracy of Maple Grove, MN and Neal Tracy of Ankeny, IA; four daughters, Elizabeth (John) Schacht of Iowa City, Dawn (Dave) Blum of West Des Moines, Christine (Dan) Schmidt of Lenexa, KS and Mary Frances Tracy of Eagan, MN; six grandchildren, Emily Campbell, Angela Farrell, Andy Blum, Amy Blum, Garrett Schmidt and Rebecca Schmidt; one brother, David (Marlys) Hoon of Black Diamond, WA; one sister-in-law, Jane Hoon of Glenellyn, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack Hoon.
