IONIA - John "Junior" Brummond Jr., 76, of Ionia, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, son of John "Jack" and Marie Rink Brummond. He married Norma Kathryn Kramer June 9, 1949, at St. Boniface Church, Ionia.

He graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1946 and worked at the Ionia Produce from 1946 to 1963. He was then employed at Salisburys Laboratories, Charles City, and then had other jobs until his retirement in 1991. After retiring he worked for the town of Ionia maintaining the towns property and streets. He also served as mayor of Ionia and was on the town council.

Survived by his wife; six sons, David (Peggy) of Oakton, Va., Bill (Kathy) of Apple Valley, Minn., Mike of Charles City, Chuck (Maggie) of Iowa City, Bob (Wendy) of St. Louis, Mo., and Jim of Cedar Rapids; five daughters, Jane (K) Wold and Pat (Joel) Myers, both of Iowa City, Susan (Robin) Dickey of St. Louis and Doris (Jeff) Payne and Joan (Chris) Bowman, both of Des Moines; and 30 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Thomas.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Ionia, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Ionia Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
