Nettie Eva Dietz, age 96 of Nashua, died Monday morning, December 12, 2005, at her home in Nashua.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua with burial in Horton Cemetery, rural Waverly. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 1003 Gilbert St., Charles City, Iowa 50616 or Horton Cemetery Society, 1545 280th Street, Nashua, Iowa 50658.

Nettie Eva Dietz was born September 15, 1909, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Briggs) Zwanziger. She attended Leamon Country school near Plainfield and graduated from Nashua High School in 1926.

She was united in marriage to Elmer E. Dietz on January 30, 1931, at Galena, IL. To this union six children were born. They farmed near Horton, Charles City and moved to their farm southeast of Nashua in 1950. Elmer passed away in June of 1969. Nettie remained on the farm until moving to her home in Nashua in the early 80’s.Nettie taught Sunday school and Bible School at the Nashua Bible Center and was later baptized in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the Horton Cemetery Society and eligible for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and quilt making in her later years, but her true love was caring for her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Burton (Edna) Dietz and Bill (Jan) Dietz all of Nashua; two daughters, Janice (les) LaLone of Hawkeye and Genevieve (Dale) Fonley of Nashua; one sister, Nellie Oberheu of Plainfield; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Zwanziger of Waverly; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; two daughters, Alice Fay Dietz and Kathryn Coffman; one son-in-law, Donald Coffman; her parents; one brother, Edward Zwanziger; two sisters, Ruth Hansen and Mary Henniges.
