Obituary for Nina H. McClure--

Nina H. McClure age 98 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg, with Pastor Michael Christie presiding. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher McClure, Joe Moldenhauer, Michael Moldenhauer, and Samantha Claypool.

Friends may greet the family 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, at Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Nina Helen McClure was born March 9, 1915, in Fredericksburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Marian (Carey) Moldenhauer Wagstaff. Nina attended school in Fredericksburg during the great depression and was a 1932 graduate of the Fredericksburg High School. After school she met Roy McClure and they were united in marriage on April 2, 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa. To this union one son was born. The couple made Fredericksburg their home. In 1959, they moved to New Hampton.

Nina enjoyed traveling with her sister Evelyn, having visited Australia, New Zealand, and Europe on many different adventures. Nina especially enjoyed the time spent in Australia and New Zealand. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg and had the distinction of being their oldest member. She always enjoyed time spent at the church teaching Sunday school, helping with potlucks, and church circles.

Family was very important to Nina, and she cherished time spent with them. She was always up to date on current events both locally and nationally. Nina had a passion for reading books and newspapers. She also liked to crochet, sew, and knit in her spare time. Nina always had a tender spot in her heart for cats.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Jeannette Hillegas of Nashua, Iowa; one grandson, Christopher (Christine) McClure of New Hope, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Kim (Jeff) Claypool of Ottumwa, Iowa; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Claypool.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Roy “Brian”; one brother, Jack McClure; and a sister, Evelyn Groom.
