Donald Beck, age 65, of New Hampton, died on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Donald John Beck was born October 21, 1942 at Riceville, the son of John A. and Nellie Mae (Peterson) Beck. The family moved to a farm west of New Hampton when Don was young. He attended country grade school where he was taught for a time by his older sister. He was a 1960 graduate of New Hampton High School. Don joined the Army National Guard after graduation. He farmed the family farm with his parents and was a care giver to his mother in her later years. He enjoyed farming, fishing, New Hampton High School sporting events and wintering in Texas.

Don is survived by one sister Dorothy (Orville) Baethke of Elma; one brother Dale (Shirley) Beck of New Hampton; two nephews; four nieces; and many great nieces and nephews and 15 great great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton with Richard Baethke, David Baethke, Susan Norman, Cindy Stover, Diane Powell and Cassie Hackman serving as casket bearers.

Visitation will be 9:00-11:00am on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home Chapel in New Hampton.

Funeral services will be 11:00am on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home Chapel in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating.
