Obituary for Anna Mae Qualley
Anna Mae Qualley age 85 of Jerico, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, December 31, 2013, at her home.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey presiding. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the church.
Anna Mae Qualley was born August 3, 1928, in rural Jerico, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Olson) Halvorson. She attended the local country schools during her younger years. Later, Anna went to New Hampton High School and graduated with the class of 1946. After High School she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Charles City Welfare Office, and at the Key Overall Company in New Hampton.
A few years after high school, she married the love of her life, Harlan Qualley on October 2, 1949 at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church; two this union four children were born Dave, Bruce, Sharon, and Susan. Anna worked hard all her life. She worked side by side with her husband in their family businesses Qualley Produce and Qualley Feed & Grain, Inc.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years; Harlan Qualley; two sons; David Qualley, Bruce Qualley, both of Jerico; two daughters; Sharon (Richard) Schuchhardt, Susan Geerts, both of Jerico; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister; Jeanne Huber of New Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; Benjamin Qualley; two brothers; Hartley Halvorson, Bernard Halvorson.
