Carole Anne Ketelsen was born February 19, 1942 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa to Henry Jurgen Ketelsen and Ellen Dorothea Lundberg, the youngest of their four daughters.

Carole graduated from Iowa State University in 1963. She married Donald Eslinger on March 10, 1963 at the Little Cedar Methodist Church, Little Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 2 daughters.

Carole died March 28, 2002 near New Hampton, Chickasaw, Iowa and is buried at the New Hampton Cemetery, New Hampton, Chickasaw, Iowa.

Obituary from the Waterloo Courier, March 31, 2002 -- New Hampton:

Carole A. Eslinger, 60, of New Hampton, died Thursday, March 28, at home of metastatic lung carcinoma.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two daughters, Laura Kangrga of St. Louis and Beth Button of Des Moines; and three sisters, Fern Crites of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Virginia Powell of Jacksonville, Florida, and Janet Bensend of Riceville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ellen Lundberg Ketelsen. Services will be 1 P.M. Monday at United Methodist Church, New Hampton, Iowa with burial in New Hampton Cemetery.

Carole attended school for 12 years at Little Cedar, Iowa, graduating in 1959. She next attended and graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, majoring in home economics education, finishing in 1963. In 1992, she attended UNI in Cedar Falls, IA and received her Masters of Arts in School Counseling at age 50. After marriage, Don & Carole lived in 5 states before settling on a farm near New Hampton.

Carole was a counselor at Clarksville, IA schools; was a member of the Amer./Iowa Assoc. for Counseling & Development; Iowa State Educ. Assoc.; Clarksville Educ. Assoc.; and Delta Kappa Gamma Society Inter.

She had been a co-owner of "Pacasa" a sportswear business in New Hampton. She also served as a substitute teacher for 15 years in the New Hampton school district. She enjoyed music, theater, reading, sewing, flower gardening and traveling; taking many trips with her family and friends.
