NASHUA, IOWA - Paul Edward Goings, 86, of Nashua, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.
He was born March 21, 1920, son of Randall and Delores Peterson Goings. He married Ardith Oleson on August 3, 1941, in Nashua.
Mr. Goings graduated from Nashua High School in 1939 with a Normal Training Certificate and attended Iowa State Teachers College for summer school. He taught rural school for three years. He farmed for 11 years before moving to Nashua, where he served as the night police officer for seven years. He then worked at Hydrotile Manufacturing Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathryn (Robert) Baird of Evansdale; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Goings of Elkader; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Cookie and Juanita Goings.
Preceded in death by two sons, Carl and Kenneth; and two brothers, Donald and Lewis.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Nashua, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Public visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church on.
