Elgin Echo, Thursday, 4 June 1908.
Patrick Brannon, living between Lawler and New Hampton, was killed by a bolt of lightning Sunday. As we hear the story, Mr. Brannon, was returning home either from town or a neighbors when struck and was found dead near a wired gateway opening onto his own premises. – Exchange.

Patrick Brannon, a prosperous farmer, who lived four miles north of New Hampton, was killed instantly by lightning when returning home in his buggy. His body was found near home by his wife, who instituted a search when he failed to return. His horse escaped uninjured.
