Ruth Martin, 86, of Charles City, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Per Ruth's request graveside services will be private.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Ruth Elizabeth Johnson Martin was born October 29, 1927, at New Hampton, the daughter of Elmer and Martha (Pichelmann) Johnson. She received her education at Charles City. On July 13, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ivan Martin at Santa Ana, Calif. They later divorced. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed dancing and listening to country music.

Living family members include four children, Ronald (Carol) Martin of Cresco, Diane (Gary) Thomas of Charles City, John (Sheryl) Martin of Hutchinson, Minn., and Robert (Donna) Martin of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Merrill of Charles City; a brother, Donald Johnson of Mason City; many nieces and nephews; and her very special friend, Don Hubert of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Martin; a brother; and three sisters.
