Earl Corey, 85, Taken By Death
Earl Corey, 85, passed away about 7:30 Monday morning at his home in Nashua, cause of death was attributed to old age and a heart ailment. The body was found be a grandson, Donald Shepard, who had been sent to call on him.
Earl C. Corey, son of George and Elizabeth Corey, was born in Bremer county Jan. 21, 1865. He was the youngest of 12 children, all of whom preceded him in death. He grew to manhood in Waverly.
He was united in marriage to Mary Francis Oct. 7, 1899, in Waverly, where they resided until 1899 when they moved to a farm east of Nashua. In 1911 they . . . where he had since resided.
To this union seven children were born. Surviving are, Mrs. Harold Strike (Kitty) and Mrs. Hazel Jones of Nashua, Harold of Dallas, Texas, and Percy of Long Beach, Calif.; also eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1920 and three sons, Rex in 1921, Earl in 1923 and Kenneth in 1943.
Later he was married to Mrs. Emma Padget of Waverly, who also preceded him in death.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Nashua for a number of years. In every community where he lived he won the respect of all who knew him and numbered his friends by his acquaintances.Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. F. L. Hanscom officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. E. Wolsted.
Six grandsons will be pallbearers: Kyle Jones, Donald Strike, Rex Corey, Lloyd Powers, Henry Waldrof and Claude Shepard.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
