Madonna M. Wood (1926-2009)

New Hampton-Madonna Mae Wood, 83, of New Hampton, died Thursday Dec. 17, at the Hillcrest Home, Sumner, following a short illness.

She was born November 5, 1926, in New Hampton, Iowa,daughter of Charles and Clara Bartz Flath. She married Glen Wood on May 22, 2949, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Jan. 6, 1986.
Mrs. Wood was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sumner.

Survived by: four sons, Carl (Darlene) of Strawberry Point, and Walter (Marva), Wesley (Renea) and Glen, Jr. (Kelli) all of Sumner; seven daughters, Glenda (Robert) Hennings, Laura (Chris) Speed, Mary (Larry) Hertel, Lois (Steve) Shields and Evelyn (Kerry) Richards, all of Sumner, Marilyn Ashleson of Ionia and Nancy (Alan) Copper of New Hampton; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene (Paul) Mosher of Badger.

She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd; two grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin Flath.
Celebration of Life services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Sumner, with graveside services at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
