Friday Rites Held for Edward Zipse

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Dec 8, for Edward Zipse, 74, who died Tuesday, Dec 5. Rev John M Rohde officiated at the rites which were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Galen Duneman, organist, accompanied Jack Kendall as he sang "How Great Thou Art" and "No Night There". Interment was in the New Hampton Cemetery and pallbearers were Harry Zipse, Robert Ohm, Leon Carlson, Ben Ryan, Vince Steffen and Frank Kraft.

Edward Benjamin Zipse was born May 12, 1893, in Lawler, the son of Albert and Margaret (Heiselman) Zipse. He attended rural schools of the area and later farmed with his father until his marriage to Minna Ohm on Oct 25, 1913, in Chicago. They farmed for 24 years near Lawler and Fredericksburg and in 1937 moved to New Hampton where he owned and operated the Conoco station until 1955, at which time he retired.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Ellsworth, of Denver, Colo., two brothers, Arthur of Waterloo and Myron of New Hampton, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, LeRoy, a brother, Lloyd and a sister, Mrs Henry (Martha) Weidler.
