FARMER KILLED BY DYNATMITE
BLAST ON CHICKASAW FARMOle Jardee Blown up While
Investigating Delayed ExplosionNew Hampton, Iowa, September 23: Ole Jerdee, age 50, was instantly killed on his farm 10 miles northeast of New Hampton on Saturday morning about 11 o'clock.
He was dynamiting rock in a field near his home with two of his sons and had lit a fuse. After waiting several minutes for the blast, he returned to investigate and it went off just as he was about to examine it. The charge threw him about 30 feet.
No inquest will be held.
He is survived by his wife, seven children, and one brother, John Jerdee of Jacksonville township. The funeral was held at Crane Creek Lutheran church near Jerico, this afternoon, September 23rd, 1923.
