No birth certificates in 1878, but I did locate that Lora Lucinda Soule was born in Aurelia, Iowa in January, 1878 and that her mother Jessie (Kenyon) Soule died in Cherokee, Iowa in October, 1881 when Lora was three years and nine months of age. The date of January 1878 is confirmed in the 1900 census where Lora Holmes was enumerated in the Nathan Holmes household in Racine, Wisconsin. Listed as a boarder in the household is Lora's younger brother, Ralph Wilbur Soule, who was also born in Aurelia, Iowa on April 4, 1879. Lora Lucinda Holmes Northrup married Henry M. Northrup and died on March 1, 1916 in Las Vegas, San Miguel County, New Mexico of acute indigestion and heart failure.
Her mother, Jessie (Kenyon) Soules was born on September 20, 1856, married William Soule on March 15, 1877 and died in October 1881 in Cherokee, Iowa of consumption.
