Mrs. Gladys Torrey; Aurelia Resident

Mrs. Gladys Torrey, 88, died Wednesday in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She had lived in Aurelia the past nine years and prior to that in Cherokee.

Gladys Crowl was born May 14, 1893, at Correctionville. On Feb. 1, 1913, she married Irving J. Torrey at Sac City. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Cherokee; a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Louise) Gray, Washta; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Celesta Watson, Sioux City; a half-brother, Kenneth Crowl in Alabama, and a half-sister, Mrs. Dell Wagner, Detroit, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Jan. 10,1962, one brother and two half-brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee. The Rev. Bob Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A family prayer service will be at 10:15.
