Caryl Boynton Holden

My great uncle Caryl Boynton Holden, born in 1850, moved to Cherokee County in 1882, and died there in 1926. He and his wife Annette (Nettie) Waters Holden had three children: Alice Maude, Arthur Caryl, and Chester Lyle. For some time he owned a monument business, which his son Chester took over after his death.

I was told by family members that C. B. was the mayor of Cherokee. Can anyone help me find out if that's true?
