Meyer Wolff, 88, of 610 N. Roosevelt, Cherokee, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Country Side Estates, Cherokee, following an illness of 10 months.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 pm. today at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. Rabbi Thomas Friedman will officiate. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Dec. 15, 1900 in Vilna, Poland, to Lipman and Chia (Spears) Wolff. He was reared in New York City, moving to Sheldon in 1919 to live with his cousin Theodore Wolff.

He owned and operated Wolff and Wolff (later Wolff's Clothing Store) in Cherokee from 1924 until retiring in 1973. On Feb. 18, 1930, he married Florence Richman in Minneapolis, Minn.

He served on the Selective Service Board during World War II, the Sanford Museum Board of Trustees, the Cherokee City Council for two terms, serving as mayor pro tem, and he assisted in organizing the Guy Gillette for Senator campaign in 1948. He was a member of Rotary Club, past chairman of Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital and member of Mt. Sinai Temple in Sioux City. He also was a member of Speculative Lodge #307 AF and AM, as a 33rd degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dr. Hugh Wolff, San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Helen) Frazin, of Arcadia, Calif; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
