Don Eugene Alldredge, 72, of Rogers, Ark. died at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark on April 11, 2004.

Funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Mary Hill Catholic Church in Cherokee.
Don was born in Achilles, Rawlins Co., Kansas, on November 25, 1931, to Emma (Morris) and O L “Roy” Alldredge. He was the oldest of 8 children. He also has an older ½ brother Elmo Alldredge. Don went to school in the Mankato, Jewell Co., Kansas area.

Don entered the United States Army on Nov 21, 1952. During the Korean War, Don served proudly with the 7th Inf. Division Artillery, in the survey section. He attained the rank of Staff sergeant, and was decorated with many honors to include the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant. He was discharged in Sept. 1954. Don was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6882 in Colby, Kan.

On August 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlys (Pitts) from Alta. Their marriage was at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee. To this union was born a son, Alvin and a daughter, Angela.

After marriage, Don worked in construction then moved SE of Colby, Kan., where he worked for Vacin Farms Inc., then Doug and Craig Hills. Don and his family lived on the farm by Colby for 32 years, until he and Marlys moved to Rogers, Ark. Where he worked for the Rogers Public Schools for approx. 10 years before retiring.

Anybody that knew Don, knew that he was an avid hunter, and fisherman, and loved the outdoors. He was always ready and willing to help anybody in need and was a very devoted father and husband. He loved animals, especially dogs, and had a way with livestock.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of almost 48 years, Marlys; his son, Alvin and his wife Gayla, two grandsons John and Matthew from Rogers, one daughter Angela, and her son J. Colby Landers, from Olathe, Kan.

He leaves behind brothers and sisters and their families: ½ brother Elmo, and his family; Von, Dale and his wife Ceil. Sisters Shirley Whitaker, Bettie Schlelke and Dean and their family. Also, Jean Oren and Don and their family; also, several nieces and nephews and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert and a sister, Lila.
