Long Beach, Calif. – Mrs. Fred (Grace) Knox, 82, Long Beach, formerly of Marcus, died here Saturday after a brief illness. She had lived in the Marcus community all her life.

Grace Nield was born Nov. 11, 1893 in Calumet, Iowa, to Jesse and Mary Jungers Nield. On Nov. 25, 1914, she married Mr. Knox in Marcus.

Mrs. Knox was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, past matron of the Marcus Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of the Marcus Chapter of PEO and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Marcus.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. A. J. (Mary) Marinello, Long Beach; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in July 1972; two brothers, and a sister.

Services will be Thursday in Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Marcus-Amherst Cemetery, under the direction of the Nelson-Mauer Funeral Home, Marcus.
