Michael Milroy Magnussen of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 1999, at his residence, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 20 days. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 18 at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon. The Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon is in charge of arrangements.

He was born October 24, 1948, at Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Milroy Kenneth and Collene Mae Klinker Magnussen. He graduated from Cherokee Community High School in 1967. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He returned to Cherokee in 1970 and worked for Wilson Foods for 5 years. On June 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann Miller in Kingsley, Iowa. He worked for J&H Locker of Cherokee before moving to Sheldon in 1981. For the past 18 years, he was employed with the Hy-Vee Store in Sheldon as the Assistant Meat Market Manager. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, the Evangelism Committee of the church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, holding the office of Conductor for 3 years and of Pheasants Forever both of Sheldon. He was a member of the Cherokee Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

he is survived by his wife, Rose, of Sheldon and their two sons, Kent Magnussen and his fiancée Kathryn Thompson both of Estherville, Iowa and Kevin Magnussen of Homer, Nebr.; a step mother Laverne Magnussen of Cherokee; three brothers, Roger and his wife Barb Magnussen of Red Oak, Iowa; Rickie Magnussen of Missoula, Montana; Steven and his wife Kathy Magnussen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two step-brothers, Richard and his wife Paula Benson of Cherokee, and Dale and his wife Mary Benson of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
