Mrs. E. A. (Birdlyn) Peterson, 85, died Friday, Sept, in the Hilltop Care Center in Cherokee following a brief illness.

Services will be Monday from the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Boothby Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Birdlyn Fulton was born Nov. 29, 1903, at Peterson. She was raised in the Linn Grove area and graduated from Linn Grove High School. She was married to Evart Peterson on April 5, 1928, at Kelso, Wash. She was a graduate of the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Seattle, Wash., Storm Lake, and was substitute teacher in the Cherokee School System.

She had made her home in Cherokee since 1929 and was residing at 722 N. First St. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of Westminster Society, active in other church functions, a former member of the Red Cross Board, and was active in various Bridge Clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include her husband Evart; two sons, Tony Peterson, Howard, S. D. and Chuck Peterson, Cherokee; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook. Clipping hand dated 9-16-89)
