L. A. “Bud” Wallace, 85, of Cherokee, died Thursday in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm from the Memorial Presbyterian Church. Dr. Eugene Tolstedt will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallace was born Oct. 22, 1902, in Cherokee. He married Lucena Segelke June 3, 1925. She died Sept. 9, 1948. He married Gladys M. Traver Jan 5, 1950, in Cherokee.
He worked for the Cherokee Postal System all his life, having served as assistant Postmaster until his retirement in 1967.
He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Workers and the Little Sioux Wildlife Association.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Cherokee; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Barbara) Flint of Marions; one son, Jim Wallace of Lake View; two stepdaughters, Glenda Bacon of Oak Lawn, Ill. And Gail Bengston of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
