Bob Larson, 68, of Cherokee, died Tuesday, January 19 at his home following a one-year illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. from Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Gary Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be military rites at the graveside by L.A. Westcott Post #2253 of the V.F.W.
He was born August 4, 1930 in Cherokee, to George and Myrtle (Casey) Larson. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1948. He attended the University of Iowa. He served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. He had lived in Cherokee all of his life. He had worked for Perrin and Sons Fur Farm for 44 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of L. A. Westcott Post #2253 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, football and traveling.
He is survived by two step-daughters, Judy Stowater and her husband Phill of Cherokee and Joann Brewer and her friend, Todd Book of Ponca, Nebraska; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Ohlson and her husband, Vernon of Cherokee; brother, Don Larson and his wife, Ruth of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim in 1962.
