Ruby E. Mongan

Ruby E. Mongan, 92, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 1, 1997, at 8:15 p.m. in the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held on today, November 4, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Mr. Gregg Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee under the direction of the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mrs. Mongan was born on May 24, 1905, at Cherokee, Iowa to Edward G. and Hattie Belle (Brooks) Warner. On March 8, 1924, she married Walton R. Mongan in Cherokee. She had been a resident of the Cherokee area most of her life.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ, the Esther Circle, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, working in the garden, babysitting with area children, and helping in her Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons: Robert Mongan and his wife, Marga, DeSoto, Iowa; and Dean Mongan and his wife, Norma, Cherokee; one daughter: Connie and her husband, Ed Allbaugh, Acton, California; a daughter-in-law: Charlene Mongan, Cherokee; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter on April 4, 1956; a son, Donald Mongan on December 31,1982; two
