Mrs. Ona McKenzie, 85, Cherokee, died Nov. 7 at her home in Cherokee following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Stephen Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
She was born Dec. 10, 1907 in Afton Township, Cherokee County to John and Melissa McQuin Mongan. She was married to Herman McKenzie on Oct. 29, 1929 in Cherokee. She had been a resident of Cherokee County all her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 1, 1976, five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters, and their spouses, Gerald and Anna Bella McKenzie, Cherokee; Stanley and MaryJo McKenzie, Rogers, Ark.; Joan and Gordon Carstens, Cherokee; Betty McKenzie, Kenzington, Ma.; Priscilla and Rodney Bainbridge, Cherokee; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Jean Dilocker, Cherokee and Mrs. Nellie Hanson, Lindstrom, Minn.
