Mrs. Betty C. Niles, 71, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Cherokee, passed away Sunday, January 22 at6:48 a.m. at her home.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 24th, at 3 p.m. from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Gary Armstrong will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee has charge of the arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to: Hospice of the Lakes, 8100 34th Ave. South, P.O. Box 1309, Minneapolis, Minn. 55440-1309. Memorial services will beheld in Minnesota on Monday afternoon.

Betty Claire Champion was born April 20, 1923 in Cherokee, Iowa to Glenn and Pauline Pelton Champion. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee. She had lived in Minneapolis the past 28 years, prior to this in Cherokee for many years. She was married to Harold N. Niles for 32 years. She was a member of the Herron United Methodist Church, where she actively taught Sunday school. While living in Minnesota, she worked for the Monarch Finer Foods, the City of Brooklyn Center, and I.D.S. She was also active in the intergenerational program in the school in her home area.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Jane Hobbs.

She is survived by two sons: Tim Richard Niles and Curtis Glenn Niles, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; also one niece and one nephew.
