Lawrence Wilberding, 73, Meriden, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at his home following a brief illness. This loving parent and grandparent enjoyed working outdoors, card club, reading and breakfast club at the Family Table. Services will be held today, Monday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in the Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church, rural Cherokee. Rev. Gene Sitzmann will officiate. Burial will be in the Visitation Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday with a family prayer service held at 7 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee.

Lawrence was born June 13, 1927, in Adrian, Minn., to Charles A. and Mary Jasper Wilberding. He was educated at St. Mary's School, Remsen. On June 13, 1950, he married Anne Kubal in Sioux City. They farmed in Rock Township for many years. Lawrence later worked for Wilson Foods, Inc., Cherokee. He was a member of the Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church.

Survivors include: his wife, four daughters, Kathy and her husband, Al Felix, Tucson, Ariz.; Dianne and her husband Bob Aust, Sioux City; Merry Jo and her husband, Mike Daniel, Marion, Ind.; Laurie and her husband, Thane Van Zomeren, Harpers Ferry, W.V.; and two sons, David and his wife, Cindy, LeMars; and Dan of Marion, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Anthony, Justin, Jordan, Amy, Molly, Jenny, Kerri, Seth and Bryce; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred and his wife, Gerry, Remsen, and Ray and his wife, Peggy, Melrose; one sister, Helen, and her husband, Leo Flaherty, LeMars; one sister-in-law Marge Kubal, Sioux City; and one brother-in-law, John Kobal and his wife, Berniece, Brookings, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
