Beryl Keck Williams, 94, Washta, died Feb. 1 in the Country Side Estates in Cherokee following a three month illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., from the Washta United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Scherb will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery, Washta. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. The Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 31, 1898 at Washta to John J. and Jennie Keck Williams. He graduated from Washta High School in 1918. He attended business college in Sioux City. He was married to Lura Fogelman on June 24, 1920 at Washta. He had resided in the Countryside Estates in Cherokee the past four years, prior to this he had been a resident of Washta most of his life. He owned and operated the Standard Oil Service Station for many years. He also was the publisher of the Washta Journal and later the Reminder in Washta. He was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Washta and for many years took the official readings of temperature and rainfall for the town of Washta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on June 27, 1951; also two sisters, Floy Deming and Alta Rumbaugh.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Roberta and Lloyd Boothby, Holstein; and June and Stephen Shatka, Sioux City; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Federsen, Armstrong; and Mrs. Wilda Holmes, Polk, Neb.
