Thomas U. Warrender, 79, died Tuesday in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a long illness. His home was at 221 S. Seventh St. and he had been a resident of Cherokee for almost 50 years.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Dr. Eugene Tolstedt will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the church on Thursday.

Speculative Lodge #307 A.F. & A.M. will have Masonic services tonight at 7 at the Boothby Funeral Home. The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 til 4 this afternoon.

Mr. Warrender was born Dec. 25, 1908 at Clydesdale, Scotland, coming to the United States in 1923. He was married to Marie Ohlendorf on Jan 17, 1937, at Cherokee. He had worked as clerk in Wolff's Clothing Store for 38 years. He was nominated and served as Judicial Magistrate for Cherokee County from 1973 until 1979. He then served as the Bailiff for the Cherokee County District Court for three years. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member and past master of Speculative Lodge #307 A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Warrender, Cherokee, and Richard Warrender, Concord, Calif.; one brother, James Warrender, Fremont, Calif.; two sisters Isabelle Allison and May Ogilvy, both Cherokee and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
