RUSSELL WELCH (1900 - 1988)

Russell H. Welch, 87, died Tuesday in the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake following a brief illness. His home was at 504 Lakeshore Drive in Lakeside. He had lived in Lakeside near Storm Lake since 1970 and prior to this in Cherokee from 1945 until 1970.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee. The Rev. Donald Callen will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.

He was born Nov. 27, 1900 at Charles City to James and Florence Young Welch. He was married to Mildred Turner on Dec. 18, 1933 at Rockport, Mo. He owned and operated Welch Appliance Store in Cherokee from 1945 until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Storm Lake.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Sally) Cram, Columbia, Mo. and Mrs. Gill (Nancy) Hartliep, Marshalltown; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
