Carrier - At his home in Cherokee Co., Iowa, November 16, 1883, Edward Carrier, of typhoid fever.

He was born in Keokuk county, Iowa, in the 1857. When five years of age he came to Benton county, where his childhood days were passed. At the age of twenty he was united in marriage to Lizzie Sebern, of Vinton, and in the spring of 1878 removed to Cherokee county where success and prosperity have rewarded them for their labors, always being blest with good health until his last sickness. But when the relapse of the fatal typhoid once took hold of the frail form all that kind friends, loving parents and a devoted wife could do, could not keep him from going to his blessed home to gain his reward. Only a few hours before he passed away he asked how far away it was to where the boat starts. He said it was only a little way, but a clear, straight way. He leaves a bereaved wife and two small children who will return to make their home in Vinton. The funeral took place from the M. E. church of Marcus, at 11 o'clock Sunday, and was attended by many sorrowing friends who were ever ready to help bear the burden which almost unbearable.
