Herbert G. Rohlfsen, 85, Cleghorn, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at 4:55 a.m. in the Heartland Care Center, Marcus, following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee. Rev. Shelby Bailey officiated. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. There was a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born July 30, 1915, at Paullina, too. George and Lydia (Kilker) Rohlfsen. He was married to Gladys Mann on Dec. 12, 1960, at Nashua. He had farmed northwest of Marcus for many years, moving into Cleghorn in 1980. He had resided at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus since July 1999. He was active with-the Cleghorn senior citizens and also enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by: one stepdaughter and one step-son, Carolyn Mahn of Cleghorn, and Donald Mahn of Cleghorn; two grandchildren, Debra Morano and her husband Troy of Florence, Colo., and David Mahn and his wife Bobbette of Westminster, Colo.; four great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Rohlfsen of Huntington Beach, Calif,; two brothers-in-laws, Bob Becker of Cleghorn; and Harold Hunter and his wife Clara, of Newton.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife on Jan. 3, 1992; two sisters Betty Becker in 1991, and Ruth Gearke in 1993; two brothers, Stanley Rohlfsen in 1998; and Russell Rohlfsen in 1945
