OBITS: Mrs. Anna Stief; Cherokee County, Iowa

MRS. ANNA STIEF.
Mrs. Anna Stief, nee Bremer was
born August 20, 1869, at Monee,
Will county, Illinois. She was
baptized October 24, 1869 in St.
Peter's church. Green Garden, Ill.
She came to Iowa in 1881, locating
in Elk township, Buena Vista coun-
ty, with her parents, John and El- i
sie Bremer. She was confirmed
April 6, 1884, at Immanuel's
church. She married Carl Stief
March 1, 1889. Her husband died
December, 1937.
After her marriage she and her
husband lived on a farm in Buena-
Vista county until 1910, when they
moved to their present farm in
Cherokee county. She has lived
here since. She died at the age of
70 years and 1 month.
The children are Alfred and Min-
nie; Albert and Ella; Hula and
Fred Hinkeldey; John and Alma;
Carl and Erna; Linda and Leo Kol-
pin.
Twenty-one grandchildren are,
Alfred--Clifford, Evelyn, Wil-
lard; Albert--Melvin, Burdett,
Ruby; Mrs. Hinkeldey--Mildred,
Raymond; John--Helen, Robert,
Darleen, Shirley; Mrs. Kolpin--Ar
leen, Richard, Marvin, Leland,
Fern, Wilford, Lola; Carl--May-
nard, Joan.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.
m., Friday from the home and
from Afton Immanuel Lutheran
church. Burial was in Afton im-
manuel Lutheran cemetery. Rev.
Otto Braunschweig was in charge.

Pallbearers were Christ Roggow,
H. A. Roggow, Ed Roggow, Henry
Sump, Fred Hasenwinkel and Ed
Goinitz. (OCT 1939)
