ORREN LESTER KECK

Orren Lester Keck, son of Lydia Baker and Lewis Keck, was born on June 14, 1887 and passed away September 30, 1966 on the farm in Grand Meadow Twp. he had resided on for the last 47 years. He had lived all his life within one mile of the present home. He had always been a mainstay in the community, having spent 42 years as superintendent of Sunday schools in the Trinity, Morning Star and Meadow Star churches as well as helping to rebuild the Morning Star church and parsonage; and to build the present Meadow Star church. He taught the young peoples' Sunday school classes for many years.

On January 27, 1909, he was united in marriage to Effie Jane Carver. To this union was born one daughter, Rachel Irene. Effie passed away October 18, 1925.

On May 3, 1939, he married Maude Heaton Barkley at Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife, Maude; a daughter, Mrs. Louie Miller of Marcus; one brother, Harley O. of Sioux City; and three step-daughters, Mrs. Ava Wittchen of Terril, Mrs. Elma Harvey of Sioux City and Mrs. Erma Wilson of Cherokee; three grandsons of Torrance, Calif., Dale, Paul and Lloyd Brown; four step-grandchildren, Lowell Wilson of Janesville, Wis., Robert Wilson of Wayne, Nebr., Julie Wilson of Cherokee and Michelle Harvey of Iowa City, Iowa; six great grandsons of California and one of Cherokee and one great granddaughter of California; three step great granddaughters of Janesville, Wisc., and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

His passing will be greatly felt by his family and all who knew him.
