Walter Ehlers; Cleghorn Resident
CLEGHORN - Walter C Ehlers, 93, Cleghorn, died saturday morning in Countryside Estates, Cherokee, after a brief illness.
He had lived in the Cleghorn area all of his life.
Mr. Ehlers was born April 28, 1890 at Cleghorn. He married Mamie Protter on Oct 30, 1912 at Paullina. He had farmed most of his life retiring in 1947. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee where he was one of the oldest members.
Survivors include sons, Arthur Ehlers, Sioux City and Kenneth Ehlers, Springfield, Ill; daughters Mrs. Martin (Lorena) Carlson, Abbotsford, Wis; Mrs. Geneva Siljenberg, Cleghorn, and Mrs. Milton (Marjorie) Halstrom, Meriden;nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother Earl Ehlers, Cleghorn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on May 26, 1957, a granddaughter, a brother, two sisters and a son-in-law.
Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday in the First Church of Christ with Mr. Karl Peterson and Mr. Todd McCracken officiating. BUrial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, under the direction of the Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:30.
