Washta, May 8 -- Mrs. Ella Kerns, 69 years old, another of Washta's pioneer women died Monday, May 6, of heart disease, being ill only about 10 minutes. She retired, apparently in her usual health, but wakened her daughter, Miss Hattie, shortly before 11:30, saying she could not get her breath and while the daughter was adminstering relief, died in her arms. The children surviving are Mrs. W. A. Cowan, Mrs. A. C. Fogleman, Mrs. H. A. Volkert, Mrs. Jack Haburn, James and Hattie, all living in Washta and Silver community
