An Old Citizen Gone

Samuel Sexton, an old and respected citizen of this county, died at his home in Afton township on Sunday. The funeral services were held at the house yesterday afternoon and were attended by a large number of people. Being a member of the Masonic lodge of this city he was buried with Masonic honors, a large number of members from this city being present. The services were conducted by Rev. John Early, and the remains laid to rest in the Aurelia cemetery. Mr. Sexton’s complaint was dropsy and he has been a patient sufferer for along time.

The deceased has been a resident of this county twenty years, coming here from Tama county. He was a man highly respected by all who knew him and his death is mourned by many. He leaves a wife and two children, a son and daughter, the latter being married and a resident of Buena Vista county. He was about 60 years of age.
