Robert Canaday Mongan died at his home east of Cherokee, IA early on the morning of Sept 10 at age 65 yrs, 2 months and 23 days. He is survived by his wife and 9 children, 5 boys and 4 girls.
Mr. Mongan was born in Washington County, Maryland June 17, 1854. He resided there for 39 years until he came west in 1893. He was married to Emma Wolford March 7, 1878.
For the last 17 years he has been active in farming a large tract of land just east of Cherokee and it was on the farm that he spent his last days.
The surviving children are: Charles Mongan of Aurelia, Walter Mongan of Aurelia, Mrs. William Dryer of Aurelia, Mrs. Dempster Steward of Cherokee, Norman Mongan of Aurelia, Mrs. Roy Sleezer, of Cherokee, Mrs. Ed Shaw of Aurelia, Earl and Arthur of home.
