Lester R. Martin, 78, of Aurelia, Ia. died Frideay, Feb. 27, 2004 in the Sioux Valley Hosp. in Cherokee Ia following a short illness.

Burial service was Tues. March 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Michael Hyde officiated. Burial was in Afton Township Cemetery with militery rights by L.A. Wescott Post # 2253 of the V.F.W..

Lester was born Nov. 27, 1925 on a farm near Sutherland to Lawrence and Adeline(Stanley) Martin. He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1943. He was a veteran of WWll serving in the U.S. Navy aboard a battle ship. He attended Iowa State University for 3 years.

He was married to Eleanor Draper on Nov. 28, 1957. He had lived and farmed in Spring Township for 46 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frances and 2 brothers, Edward and Ray. He is survived by his wife Eleanor and 4 sisters: Margaret Puckett of Allen Nebr. , Naomi Davis of Chico , Calif.; Kathryn Wolf and her husband Bill of Beaver Penn; Dorathy Chaplain and her husband Gene of Blair Nebr.;three brothers -in- lawand one sister-in-law; Darrel Draper and his wife Ruth of Milford; James Draper and his wifw Helen of Cherokee.; Ralph Draper and his wife Eleanor of Wayland Ia.;Margaret Draper of Sutherland; also many nieces and nephews.
