Mrs. Agnes Scott Blake, 94, Aurelia, died Nov.9 ,1993,in Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Pastor Henrietta Klarenbeek officiated. Buriel was in Afton Township Cemetery. Boothby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments.

She was born May, 11, 1899 in Afton Township to James J. and Lucinda Morrison Scott. She attended country schools in Cherokee County. She was married to John D. Blake on Feb. 16, 1918 in Cherokee County. After their marriage they farmed in Afton Township until retiring to West Lake Okoboji in 1952. Following the death of her husband on Apr. 28, 1969, Agnes moved to Aurelia to make her home. She became a resident of Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia in Dec. of 1991. Mrs. Blake was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia,She was the last surviving charter member of the Afton Community Club, that was organized May 14, 1919. She was also a former member of the Aurelia Senior Citizens, the FAC, the Embroidery club and the Cherrio Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law Wilmer Anderson; four brothers; Clarence, Bill, Chester, and Nellis; also a nephew James W. Scott.

She is survived by three sons, Rolan and his wife Donna, Odebolt, Russell and his wife Peggy, Sheldon, Donald and his Wife Annette, Cherokee.; two daughters, Eleanor Anderson, Alta, Muriel and her husband Raymond Hasenwinkel of Cherokee; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Esther Scott of Alta. Two nieces, Geraldine Parrott, Ft. Myers Fla.
. and Marcella Scott of Spirit Lake.
