Emily Caroline Tilton was born in Coshoctan county, Ohio, Feb. 8 1849. At the age of three years she emigrated with her parents to Ogle county Ill. where she grew to womanhood, and in the year 1866 was united in marriage to Charles H, Weeks. To this union two children were born, Edwin Eugene now of Holden, Mo., and Earl Day Weeks of Kenesaw, Neb. In 1873 they moved to Pottawattimie County, Iowa, and a few years later came to Cherokee County Iowa, where she made it her home until death overtook her Tuesday morning ar 10 o'clock, Apr. 12, 1921. In early life she united with the Methodist Church and remained a trusted christian woman to the end.

Mrs. Weeks was a woman of kindly disposition,honest in her dealings with mankind and ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in distress. The funeral services were conducted from her late home on Willow Street Thursday afternoon at 1:30 by Rev. William Balder. The remains were interned in the Afton Township Cemetery. Besides her two sons, she is survived by six sisters, three brothers, and a host of friends.
