Once more has death visited this community, and taken from our midst one of our most highly honored and respected citizens. On last Wednesday, as the sun was sinking in the west, Thomas Todd, after four weeks of suffering such as few are called upon to witness, quietly closed his eyes upon the joys and sorrows of this world and passed on to the home above. Mr Todd was born on the Isle of Man, UK. Sept. 8, 1833, and in 1842 emigrated to America, settling in Big Patch, Wis.

Oct. 3, 1860, he was united in marriage to Miss Jessie Summerville, four children being the fruit of this marriage, three of whom are now living. Miss Joe Vine, Mrs. C. W. Stevens, and Richard Todd, who are all living in this vicinity, and Willie, who died two years ago. In 1862, Mr. Todd was converted and united with the Primitive Methodist church and continued ever a faithful Christian. About 11 years ago, he moved here and settled southwest of Marcus, and since that time has lived in the community. His funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Fox of the Epworth Methodist church, Mr. Todd and his wife being members of this church for the past three years. Mr. Todd was known as a faithful, earnest Christian, and during his last sickness and great suffering, often expressed his hope and trust in Christ and a willingness to go whenever the summons came. His death will be a loss to scores of friends and relatives, but only those who have suffered such losses can fully realize the sad hearts of these bereaved ones, and especially does the sympathy of all go out to Mrs. Todd whose home is now darkened and another link in the family chain broken. Cheer up, sad heart, the daw will soon appear and what a glorious reunion awaits in that beautiful home above where sorrow never enters.
