ELEANOR L. RUBLE

(March 9, 1932 - April 30, 2011)

ELEANOR L. "ELLY" RUBLE, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday morning April 30, 2011 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Eleanor was born March 9, 1932 on a farm west of Akron, Iowa to Ralph & Margaret (Hoffman) Heyl. She attended Sayles Rural School in South Dakota and High School in LeMars. She was married to Harlan J.H. Ruble on January 14, 1950 at LeMars, Iowa. She had worked at The Jean Factory which became Aalf's Manufacturing in LeMars. Eleanor and her husband moved to Cherokee in 1958 and owned and operated Ruble's Standard Service from 1958 until selling the business to their son Bruce in February of 1995. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cherokee Fire Dolls and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, playing cards, bird watching, cooking and baking, most of all being with friends and family, especially watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harlan on January 18, 2006.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Rory Ruble and his wife Marsha of Holstein, Iowa; Bruce Ruble and his wife Connie of Cherokee, Iowa; Debra Agnitsch and her husband James of Cherokee, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: Milton Heyl and his wife Alvina of Sheldon, Iowa; Donna Boetger of Akron, Iowa; Beverly Koopman and her husband Ray of Falls City, Nebraska; Dorothy Dailey of Brunswick, Missouri; a sister-in-law Phyllis Schmidt of LeMars, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews and many friends.
