MARCUS, Iowa — Clyde Means, 72, of Marcus died Friday, July 28, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name
Catholic Church in Marcus with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of Marcus.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. said by the Knights of Columbus and a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Home in Marcus.

Mr. Means was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Marcus, the son of Louis W. and Mary (Tiel) Means. He was raised in the Marcus area and graduated from Holy Name High School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Armored Division from 1946 to 1947.

He married Norma Schiltz Oct. 1, 1950. She died in 1957. He married Hazel (Glashen) Chase on Jan. 2, 1961. She died Dec. 21, 1999. He farmed for many years.

He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Tom Hunt of Nisswa, Minn., Janet and Charles Wood and Connie and Charles Marchland, all of Omaha; three sons and their wives, Roger and Cindy Means of Flower Mound, Texas, Wayne and Carol Chase and Dean and Sandy Chase, all of Allen, Neb.; a brother and his wife, Harold "Pete" and JoAnn of Marcus; two sisters, Darlene Means of Marcus, and Norma and her husband, Francis Cronin of Holstein, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death his parents; a sister, Lorna; an a brother, Marion
